How to Clean Out a Garage in One Weekend
A two-car garage that's been filling for a decade is a weekend job, not a season-long project — if you empty it before you sort it.
Saturday: empty the box
Pull everything onto the driveway. Sorting inside a full garage is what makes garage projects die halfway through.
Stage four zones on the driveway: keep, sell, donate, haul.
Handle chemicals separately
Set aside gas cans, oil, solvents, and pool chemicals for a county hazardous-waste day. A hauler can't legally take liquid fuels.
Sunday: haul and reset
Book the pickup for Sunday morning so the driveway clears before the week starts. A full truckload tops out around $699, labor and disposal included.
Sweep, then put back only the keep pile. Wall storage goes up last, once you know what's left.
